THIS weekend at The Watercress Line will see a chance to see and ride guest engines and the home-fleet locomotives.

Head along for a behind-the-scene tour throughout Ropley workshop, and get up close and explore those vehicles under restoration.

A bar will be open, and fun is to be had at this family fun event, running both Saturday and Sunday.

DISCOVER super exciting science that you can do at home as a family at Winchester Science Centre this weekend.

On Saturday and Sunday a number of activities focusing on the universe will be held, helping your understanding of space and what is out there.

Live shows will be running between 11am and 3.30pm, and hands-on sessions will be held in the Invention Studio.

So get your lab coats and goggles on - there's nothing left to do but learn.

CALLING all bookworms.

Portsmouth BookFest has returned, with a wide range of exciting events hosted at a variety of locations across the city this weekend.

Listen to and meet some of the most exciting authors writing today or try your own hand at writing at one of the many writing workshops on offer.

At most of the events there will be the chance to buy a book and get it signed by the author.

THE St Edwards Church Hall Annual Art Show will return on Saturday, and will be bringing some of the finest works since the event began.

Doors are set open at 10am and will close at 4pm

Admission is free and a number of local artists will be on hand to display their pieces.

Cakes, coffee and tea donated by the artists will be on offer and all proceeds will go to the Stroke Association.

HEAD over to the Get Cycle Savvy pit stop in Centenary Quay this Saturday.

All on offer will be free, and attendees can visit the Bike Dr team ,who will give bikes a tune up and fix any issues, and also give advice on maintenance.

There will also be the opportunity to try YoBike, Southampton’s bike share scheme, with the chance to learn about offers and get help with the app.

The pop-up workshop will stay between 10.30am and 1.30pm.

CATCH a detailed talk at Southampton City Art Gallery on Saturday.

Invention and Creativity: Philosophy and Leonardo da Vinci will see a guest speaker present, inspired by the da Vinci exhibition currently on show.

It will be a free drop in event running between 2pm and 3pm, with both seating and standing available - first come first serve.

The speaker will be from the University of Southampton's Philosophy Department, and is to explore invention and creativity.

A SHOW set to tug on the heartstrings and tickle the sides of its audience will be at Nuffield Southampton Theatres this weekend.

MEET Steph Jeavons this Saturday at Beaulieu.

Steph is an author, journalist and adventurer who, in April 2018, completed a solo around-the-world trip that took her to all 7 continents - a world first.

The journey lasted a few days short of four years, during which she logged 53 countries and over 74,000 miles on a 250cc Honda - more than anyone who’s come before.

She will give a talk about her experience to guests, with the event starting at 7.30pm.

CELEBRATE International Woman's Day this Sunday with a free community walk.

Attendees are asked to wear purple in celebration of the achievements made by women around the world.

It will follow a route around Southampton Common, starting and finishing at the Hawthorns Centre.

Registration will be held at 1.30pm, and the walk is to start at 2pm.

The event has been organised by Southampton Women's Forum in partnership with Sustrans.
