FIVE people arrested after a stabbing at a Southampton city centre park have been released on bail.

It comes after a man was stabbed in the back in East Park in Southampton just before 8pm on Monday, March 4.

Police say a 23-year-old woman, a 23-year-old man and a 24-year-old man, all arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, have been released pending further investigation.

Their bail conditions include an order to outside of Hampshire.

Two other men, a 27-year-old man of no fixed abode and a 24-year-old man from Southampton, were arrested on suspicion of conspiring to commit grievous bodily harm.

They have also been released, but remain under investigation.

Police say the assault took place near the Titanic Engineers’ Memorial in East Park.

The man was transported to hospital where he remains with serious but not life threatening injuries.

Chief Inspector Phil Lamb said: “Keeping people safe in the city is a priority for us and our partner agencies.

"We work together to make the city as safe as possible however, like most UK cities we do suffer from crimes relating to drug activity which bring harm and violence into our communities.

“You are our eyes and ears out there and you may be seeing drug-related activity in your neighbourhood.

"We need to know about it so we can take action.
