FIREFIGHTERS rushed to a blaze at a Southampton restaurant.

The fire occurred at Tim's Bistro in Bedford Place last night.

Tim Cribben, his four-year-old son Stanley, and two roofers were all on the premises at the time, but were all uninjured.

The 53-year-old said: " We opened on Monday and have completely refurbished the place.

"I've had roofers in using blowtorches, and they caught some old wood.

"I hope to still open tomorrow, as fortunately it's all in the back area.

"It was a rapid response from the fire crews.

"They were here with something like three minutes, so that's brilliant."

A Hampshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "We were called 5.50pm to fire on a building undergoing construction.

"two crews from St Marys and one from Redbridge attended, and the fire was out upon arrival.

"They inspected the building and the stop message came at 5.59pm."
