THERE was a disappointing turnout for the Totton Mini-Marathon in 1986.
Fewer than 200 people lined up for the start on March 9, reflecting a fall-off in enthusiasm for long-distance running, as well as bad weather and a a flu epidemic.
The race was also hit by a last-minute decision to run a full marathon in Portsmouth which may have drawn runners away.
Ian Burgess was the first over the finish line, while Eroica Staudenmann was the first woman home.
