BBC have announced a new mid-morning show will be coming to BBC Radio Solent.

This news comes after Sasha Twining decided to step down from her daily role on the show, but will still continue to work on BBC radio and television.

Louisa Hannan and Alun Newman will start their on-air partnership on March 4.

The pair will entertain listeners in Hampshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight between 10am and 1pm every weekday.

Louisa Hannan said: "Mid-morning is my favourite time of the day to be on air.

"The listeners are already into their day, and ready to share life experiences and personal stories with us.

"Can’t wait to get started.

"It’s a long time since I’ve co-presented, and if there was one person I’d love to pair up with again it would be Alun.

"He’s certainly going to keep me on my toes, you never know quite what he might say next.”

Louisa currently presents the 4pm-7pm show on BBC Radio Solent, and has done for the past five years.

The Daily Echo has asked, but it is currently unknown what will happen with the evening show.

Alun Newman said: "It’s going to be a rollercoaster ride of a radio show.

"Working with Louisa Hannan is a dream come true, she’s, professional, hardworking and determined.

"I’m going to bring the balance - anxiety, chaos and confusion."

Managing editor of BBC Radio Solent Sarah Miller said: "Sasha brought a real depth to the show’s journalism and balanced it perfectly with a great sense of fun.

"She’s a joy to work with and it is great that she will continue to work with us and other BBC stations."

She added: "Louisa and Alun together at mid-morning will create a brand new sound for BBC Radio Solent, they both have a passion for people and know how to get the best stories from them.

"They’re also experts in bringing the best out of each other."
