A SOUTHAMPTON school is set to reopen tomorrow after it was closed due to high levels of sickness.
Townhill Infant School in Benhams Road will reopen on February 12, after it was shut today due to high levels of absence among staff and pupils.
Townhill head Beverly Corbin said that the closure was "a precautionary measure in order to limit any further outbreaks."
She added: "Parents were informed on Friday after monitoring the absences over the last week.
"We thank you for your understanding during this closure and ask parents to contact the school if they have any queries."
A number of schools across the city have also had to close recently due to illness.
St Monica Primary School in Bay Road decided to close the Year R building today following a higher than average percentage of pupils being ill with vomiting and diarrhoea.
A deep clean is being carried out at the building occupied by the year group and it is set to reopen tomorrow.
The rest of the school remained open as normal.
Last week Hollybrook Infants schools was also closed after several staff and students reported falling ill with a “flu-like sickness”.
Regents Park School closed on January 31 until February 4, Oasis Academy Mayfield closed on January 31 and February 1 and Redbridge Community School was closed for three days earlier this month.
