TWO people have admitted fraudulently using the bank cards of a murder victim, whose body was found in Southampton Common.

Charlotte Glen, 32, went on a two day spending spree with the bank cards of Gerald Pragnell, who was found strangled in a wooded area of the Common in November last year.

Glen used Mr Pragnell's NatWest card on 10 occasions across November 1 and November 2, spending more than £150.

Karl Fawcett, 36, used two different bank cards, from Barclays and Halifax, on six different occasions on November 1.

He spent more than £130 on the two cards and admitted possessing a stolen signet ring belonging to Mr Pragnell.

Daily Echo:

Glen, of Southampton Street, Southampton, indicated guilty pleas to 10 counts of fraud by false representation.

She also pleaded guilty to a separate count of theft of alcohol from Sainsburys in Southampton and breaching a community order, made after she was convicted for a theft in September last year.

Appearing at Southampton Magistrates' Court, Glen was jailed for a total of 26 weeks.

Fawcett, also of Southampton Street, will be sentenced later this month after admitting six counts of fraud and one of handling stolen goods.

The sentencing comes after Mr Pragnell's body was found in a wooded area of Southampton Common, near to Cemetery Road, on Saturday, November 3.

Winchester Coroner’s Court previously heard the preliminary cause of death for the 66-year-old, whose address was given as a houseboat moored in Shamrock Quay, off William Street, was “pressure to the neck”.

Senior coroner Grahame Short adjourned the hearing for a full inquest on May 17, 2019.

As previously reported, Tommy Scott, 34, of no fixed address, was charged with Mr Pragnell’s murder.

Daily Echo:

He admitted killing Mr Pragnell last month and is due to be sentenced on February 14.
