THE Royal Shakespeare Company have released the first images of Elliot Harper as Miss Trunchbull in Matilda The Musical, Mayflower Theatre's flagship production for 2019.
The West End favourite will star as the terrifying headteacher when the smash hit musical comes to Southampton in June, it has been revealed.
His previous roles include One Man Two Guvnors, Les Misérables and The Phantom of the Opera.
Elliot Harper joins Carly Thoms as Miss Honey and Sebastien Torkia and Rebecca Thornhill as Mr and Mrs Wormwood in the show, inspired by Roald Dahl's beloved book and with music and lyrics by funnyman Tim Minchin.
The story centres on Matilda, a precocious young girl with special gifts who loves reading, overcomes obstacles caused by her family and school, and helps her teacher to reclaim her life.
Multi award-winning Matilda The Musical has now been seen by 8.7 million people worldwide, having toured to over 72 cities and played more than 6500 performances in the West End, on Broadway and on tour across North America, the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.
It plays Mayflower Theatre from June 11 to July 6.
