The Daily Echo turns back the clock and takes a look at life in Hampshire through the lens of a photographer in January 1979.
It was the same month kids and adults built a whopping 15ft snowman at Coxford Adventure Playground. The leaning ice structure towered high above their heads.
Tupperware was all the rage – as depicted in one of these images. A party was hosted at a home in Lordshill where all manner of plastic food storage was put on display.
At the same time as the events in these pictures were unfolding in Hampshire, these occurrences were taking place nationally:
January 5
Shortages of heating oil and fresh food hit the United Kingdom due to a lorry driver strike
January 15
Rail workers began a 24-hour strike.
January 16
