CAMPAIGNERS have hailed an anti-pollution demo a success.
Hundreds of demonstrators took to the city centre steps in a bid to call a "climate emergency."
Some were asked to leave Westquay after staging a protest designed to alert shoppers to the number of deaths estimated to be caused by pollution in the city each year.
They also rolled 110 orange ping pong balls down the civic centre steps to symbolise the number of deaths, before lying on the ground in front of the Bargate in the first stage of their "die-in."
Managers at Westquay and Southampton City Council have have been contacted for a comment.
