A WOMAN was sexually assaulted during a late-night alleyway attack.
Police are appealing for witnesses following the incident, which happened in Eastleigh between 11.30pm on Tuesday and the early hours of yesterday morning.
The 22-year-old woman had walked down Beaulieu Road before going through an alleyway to Selbourne Drive.
She then went through another alley into Whyteways, where the attack happened.
A 20-year-old man from Eastleigh has been arrested and officers are carrying out house-to-house enquiries in the area.
A Hampshire Constabulary statement says: “Did you see or hear anything suspicious around these times and locations?
“Do you have CCTV covering any of the locations?
“Were you driving through the area at this time? Did you see anything suspicious, do you have any dash cam footage?
“If you can help, please call 101 quoting Operation Priority.”
Nearby resident Mr Pragnell said: “I heard some shouting but didn’t think much of it.
“There’s a pub nearby so you hear shouting a lot.
“We always hear arguments or school kids going down the alley and shouting, so you never know what’s going on.”
“This must be serious, as police have been here all day.
“They have been coming and going all day.
“They’ve had the forensic department down here as well.”
