A SOUTHAMPTON bus company has announced a new project offering free travel and support to local organisations.

Bluestar has launched the Community Fund scheme, which is a dedicated resource for backing local causes with funding, marketing help, free travel or the use of its buses for events.

The scheme will benefit charities, sports teams, schools and events organisers in Southampton.

Bluestar head of communications, Nikki Hone, said: “At Bluestar, we’re proud to play an integral role within the local community.

“As well as providing award-winning bus services across the city, we endeavour to support and raise awareness for those doing excellent work on behalf of those living here.

“The Bluestar Community Fund is open to everyone – from charities to sports teams – and we encourage anyone who needs a helping hand, however big or small, to apply.

“We hope the new Community Fund will offer a fair support process and allow us to build new relationships with worthy causes across Southampton.”

The Community Fund is open to applicants all year round, with Bluestar funding and support donated during January and July.

To apply for the operator’s January allocation, groups should visit Bluestar’s website and provide details about their cause, what they need, and the difference this support might make to their organisation.
