POLICE officers have been given more time to investigate two murder suspects after the death of a man in Bursledon.

A bail extension has been granted for the pair, arrested on suspicion of murdering a man at his home on Boundary Road last month.

Police sealed off the home after the 73-year-old's body was found at the house around 12.45am on Monday, December 3.

A 63-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man were later arrested on suspicion of murder and later bailed.

Their latest bail extension is set to last until March 3.

As previously reported at the time in the Echo, neighbours said police started knocking on their doors before 7am on December 3 and asked them if they had seen or heard anything suspicious.

Residents said the house was occupied by a couple and that a younger man had moved in just over a month ago.

Patricia Peacey, 63, who lives in Boundary Road, said: “I only knew him to say hello to and I never noticed anything suspicious.

“I’m in total disbelief about it, really, and I really don’t know what to believe at the moment.

“I feel uneasy because I don’t know what’s going on.”

A neighbour who asked not to be named said: “I didn’t know him that well.

“The family kept themselves to themselves."

Another, Brian Gormin, a resident of Maple Close for 42 years said: “I used to see him out and about and he seemed nice.

“I was shocked to hear the news.

“We keep ourselves to ourselves around here.”
