A WANTED man has been arrested following a police stand-off after he was tracked down in a kayak on a Southampton River.
A 42-year-old man, wanted on recall to prison, was arrested on January 1 after he was found drifting down the River Itchen on a kayak in what has been described by officials as a "very unusual situation".
Teams from Hampshire Response Police and the MOD Police were at the incident on New Year's Day along with police helicopters from National Police Air Service Bournemouth.

After speaking with force negotiators, the man gave himself up.
In a Tweet, Southampton Cops described the situation as "very unusual".
The man, of no fixed address, was sleeping on a boat on the river which is believed to have broken his bail conditions.
The man will be sent back to prison immediately.
