Anya Gallaccio has recreated her extraordinary installation All the Rest is Silence, that was originally created for Sadler’s Wells in London in 1999.

The pieces can now be seen at the John Hansard Gallery in Above Bar Street.

She is known for creating ephemeral site-specific installations that change over time.

Using a wide range of organic materials such as cut flowers, fruit, chocolate, ice, and salt, Gallaccio’s installations evolve through a process of transformation and decay.

Due to their temporary nature, many of Gallaccio’s installations only live on in the memory and through photographic records, many of which were captured by the photographer Edward Woodman.

A DEMOCRACY café is a gathering of people who discuss two topics voted on from suggestions by the attendees.

And that is what is coming to the NST City building in Above Bar Street this Saturday.

Each topic is discussed for about 40 minutes. At the end, before everyone leaves, agreements are made to decide on further dates as well as anything else that needs deciding.

Every attendee gets a chance to suggest a topic for discussion.

This usually amounts to around four or five subjects.

The attendees then vote for each subject in turn.

Fancy getting your words out there?

Turn up to the free event, which will begin at 10am.
