A MAN who tormented his ex-wife with a reign of abuse has been sent to jail.

Southampton Crown Court heard how Patrick Cruise of Old Barn Close, Calmore had been ordered by the courts three times not to harass his ex-wife.

But on November 10 the 47-year-old sent her a bunch of flowers to her workplace, two photos and a note saying “I love you.”

On the same day Cruise turned up at a school drunk – before being sent away by a teacher.

It was the latest in a “protracted” series of events.

The court heard how Cruise was already in breach of three non-molestation orders, and had been given a 12 week suspended sentence for criminal damage.

On August 10 this year he had gone to the family home and shouted: “Get out of my house that’s my wife,” before trying to push his way in and banging on the window so hard it smashed.

In September he had gone again to the family home and shouted again before leaving the divorce papers on the doorstep with expletives written across the file.

That night Cruise went to the house again, shouting: “Come outside Mr Body Builder.”

The court heard how such behaviour was a “regular occurrence” on Friday and Saturday nights.

Representing himself in court Cruise told Judge that he had sent his wife flowers to say sorry, and that he believed he should be in prison for his own welfare.

He said: “I still love my wife. I have asked for help in prison and seen a specialist that’s why I wanted to go back to prison.”

But the judge replied: “That I understand but you have got to accept what has happened” - before sentencing Cruise to eight months in prison for breach of a non-molestation order and breach of a suspended sentence.
