NOW is your chance to make a little bit of sporting history.

The Daily Echo has teamed up with the organisers of the ABP Southampton Marathon to give a lucky reader the chance to design a medal for next year’s event.

The team behind the marathon event have appealed to school pupils from across the Southampton area to enter a competition to design the medal for this year’s ABP Southampton Mile Fun Run.

But there is not much time left to get your thinking caps on. Entries must be submitted to the organisers no later than Thursday December 20.

All you have to do is draw your design on the blank medal - downloadable by clicking the link below - and email it to events@reesleisure.co.uk.

The one rule is that all entries must include the the words “ABP Fun Run” incorporated into the design.

The winning entry will not only get the prestige of having their design on all the fun run medals but they will also receive a family entry to the run and some goodies from the sponsors.

The ABP Southampton Mile Fun Run is open to all ages from two to 102 years old. Wether you walk it, jog, run or take part in fancy the one- mile fun run is a great race through Southampton city centre parks.

Taking place on Sunday May 5, after the ABP Southampton Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K, the race is fully chip-timed and all participants receive a medal and t-shirt once they cross the finish line.

The Mile Fun Run aims to encourage everyone to join in with the event no matter your fitness level or experience. Start your running journey and maybe next year you’ll be doing the 10km! The race starts at 4pm and will be started by our ‘Mascot Mile’ featuring mascots from participating charities and businesses.

Local schools compete in a one-mile chip timed event. Each participant will receive a cotton t-shirt and the all important medal. That is open to all ages and those aged eight to 15 can compete in the School’s Challenge.
