AS parents rush out to get their little ones the latest books from David Walliams and Adam Hargreaves for Christmas, the Daily Echo takes a look back at a time when local school children enjoyed book week.
These pictures were taken at Newlands Infant School, Millbrook, when the pupils and teachers dressed up as their favourite book characters.
Among them was Batman, Mickey Mouse, the Wicked Witch of the West and Buzz Lightyear.
As well as donning their brand-new fancy dress, all were wearing something else – big beaming smiles.
