A SICKNESS bug has forced a Hampshire school to close - after a fifth of pupils reportedly contracted the illness.

Around 60 students and five staff have reportedly been made ill by the bug at Marchwood Junior School.

School chiefs have made the decision to close the school today (Monday, December 3), in order to deep clean the school.

A notice on the school's website said: "There is a sickness bug currently in school which seems to have escalated today.

"Please note the school will be shut on Monday 3rd December in order to deep clean the school.

"Please ensure that your child does not return to school until 48 hours after the last episode of sickness."
