A MAN launched a violent and sustained attack on his partner after finding out she had been cheating on him.

Daniel Miskowiec tried to suffocate the victim by grabbing at her throat, knocking her to the floor and squeezing at her.

In one terrifying moment, the 30-year-old pulled out some of the woman's hair before shoving it in her mouth.

Polish national Miskowiec, who has lived a crime free life in the UK for six years, admitted causing the victim actual bodily harm and assault.

Southampton Crown Court heard Miskowiec had recently found out the woman had been having an affair after spending 14-years together.

After returning from her shift, Miskowiec lashed out at the vulnerable woman.

Prosecutor Dawn Hyland told the court the woman thought she had been struck in the face around 10 times during the prolonged assault.

She said: "He hit her to the floor and grabbed her by the throat and tried to strangle her.

"Some of the victim's hair came out and he then put it in her mouth.

"She then barricaded herself in the bathroom but was enticed out."

She added: "He was trying to suffocate her."

In a separate incident he bit down on her nose.

Miskowiec's offending came to light after the victim contacted the police to ask how to report domestic violence, the court was told.

Jamie Gammon, mitigating, said the couple were working to resolve their issues and her affair had ended.

He added: "One wonders how he expected the relationship to survive these problems, which were made worse by violence of this kind.

"Clearly the affair was a problem and it created an atmosphere."

Miskowiec, of Romsey Road, Southampton, was sentenced to eight months imprisonment, suspended for two years.
