THE traffic lights failed at the Shirley High Street/Anglesea Road junction on Tuesday, November 13, just after midday and caused havoc with vehicles from four directions.
This was when a local council operative, complete in hi-vis, came to the rescue by promptly standing at the crossroads and directing both traffic and pedestrians until the police turned up after 30 minutes.
I later found out the man's name was Michael White – what a hero! Well done indeed.
