FANCY a gong bath? A vegan speed date? Or how about making your own air freshener?

This weekend you could have a go at all these and more at Southampton's second annual meat-free feast.

Last year's Vegan Festival was such a success - with just under 2,000 visitors - that organisers are bringing the event to the Guildhall on November 17.

Organiser Ellie Attai said: "Veganism is now a commonly debated topic in the media and as such interest is growing phenomenally.

"Recent statistics suggest that one in eight Britons are now vegan or vegetarian, a significant jump from previous statistics.

"As a result, there is a huge demand for vegan products, services and events so I am organising the Southampton Vegan Festival to meet that demand and provide local people with a great event that celebrates veganism.

"At the event you can stock up on your favourite vegan items, experience new tastes and products, learn about veganism and what you can do to help and generally have a fun day out."

As well as stalls and cooking demonstrations there is also a series of talks scheduled - on subjects including "Helping animals with The Humane League: hard-hitting effective activism", "Learning to choose love in an imperfect world" and "Plant Based Diets, Holistic Health and Freedom."

The vegan speed dating takes place at 12pm, after the gong bath relaxation, rejuvenation and revitalisation session at 11am.

There is a hot dynamic yoga session at 3pm.

As reported the city's first vegan festival took place last year - with two floors of stalls selling everything from gluten-free cosmetics to soy wax candles and edible seaweed at Oceana.

It takes place from 10.30-4pm.Tickets cost £4 for adults, £3.50 students or over 65s.
