A MAN was rescued from his Southampton home after a fire broke out.
Crews from Hightown, St Mary's and Eastleigh rushed to the scene, on Shelley Road, Thornhill, at around 1.40am this morning (November 16).
When they arrived they found a gentleman attempting to escape through a ground floor window, whom they assisted to safety.
The man taken to hospital as a precaution.
Half of the building is said to be damaged by fire.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue say roof tiles were removed to gain access to fire using aerial ladder platform.
Six breathing apparatus, one hosereel jet, three main jets and positive pressure ventilation were used to extinguish fire.
