PUPILS from a Southampton college have commemorated the centenary of the Armistice in their annual musical.

Students from Regents Park Community College performed the dress rehearsal of their production of 'Oh What a Lovely War' to year six students from St Marks school.

Oh What a Lovely War is a satire about The First World War that was produced in 1963.

It was then turned into a film adaption in 1969.

Students and staff from the college have been working on the production since February and Hazel Freeman, the curriculum leader of creative arts said:" The dress rehearsal went very well."

She said:" We decided to do this particular production to commemorate the centenary of the Armistice.

"We have also produced a poppy installation combined with poetry, a silent soldier and a poppy display.

"It is a difficult piece of satire but it has given the students a greater understanding about the First World War."

Hazel said: "It was a very difficult undertaking but was definitely worth it, all the pupils involved have worked so hard."
