STAFF, students, apprentices and businesses celebrated at an Oscar-style event for City College Southampton.

More than 200 people attended the glamorous evening including adult students, apprentices, and 16 to 18-year-olds who picked up awards.

Mayor of Southampton, councillor Stephen Barnes-Andrews, presented awards to two businesses, six college staff, and to the adult and young student of the year, as well as the apprentice of the year.

The stage was set and lit by production arts students, while media students filmed proceedings, hospitality students prepared and served food, and event management students welcomed guests.

Performing arts students provided entertainment under the theme of the musical Wicked.

City College Principal Sarah Stannard said: “We are immensely proud of all our students and the annual awards ceremony celebrates individuals who have excelled at college.

“We are very proud of all the award winners and we are also proud that our current students have risen to the challenge of putting on a professional level event and showcasing what they are learning at college.”
