SIX people arrested in connection with the murder of a Southampton man have tonight been released by detectives.

A 31-year-old woman, and five men aged 20, 25, 23, 24 and 36, all from Southampton have been freed from police custody but remain under investigation.

A 34-year-old man remains in police custody to enable further enquiries to be made.

Detectives continue to investigate the murder of a man whose body was found in woodland near Cemetery Road in Southampton on Saturday evening.

The scene was tonight being guarded by officers and scenes of crime officers were due to resume their work in the dense wood on Monday morning

A police investigation was initially started after the sudden disappearance of a 66-year-old Southampton man, who had not been seen since 6.30am on Thursday November 1.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Officer David Morgan, continues to appeal for witnesses and information.

He said: “I would like to specifically hear from people that were in the vicinity of Cemetery Road any time between 00.01 hours on Thursday 1 November and 17.00 hrs on Saturday 3 November.

“Even small bits of information that might seem insignificant may turn out to be very valuable to the investigation, so please get in contact.”
