It’s that time of year again, where it’s acceptable for you to wear costumes and fancy dress out in public.

We’ve compiled a list of 11 things you can do in Southampton and Hampshire this Halloween.

1. Halloween night trail at Itchen Valley Country Park on October 31.

Daily Echo:

Children can take part in the trail, decorate a spooky biscuit and have a hot dog from 5pm to 7:30pm.
There will be hot food and drink available for adults in the Woodland Cafe and, you can go over to the Forest School areas and take part in cooking a marshmallow over a camp fire for £1.50.

The event will take place  and booking is essential. Tickets cost £7 per child. Call 023 8068 3790.

2. Spooky Halloween River Tour October 26
The Beaulieu River has so much history and stories of resident ghosts, and you can brave the river at dusk from  6.30pm - 8pm. 

Everyone is invited to come in fancy dress for a 90-minute one-way tour.  After the paddle you will enjoy a spooky riverside walk back.Tickets cost £25 Adult, £19 Child, £76 Family (2 adults, 2 children)

3. Happily Never After - Halloween Party at Mango Thai Tapas Bar & Lounge, Southampton, October 27 

Twisted fairy tales that never end happily and fancy dress.

You can catch close-up illusionist magician Stephen Simmons, live music with Johnny Boxcars, Funky Soul Disco’s live Dj set, decorations inspired by the original Brothers Grimm Tales, Magic Mirror cocktail menu, poisoned apples and mysterious “drink me” bottles.

Prizes will be given to the best three  costumes as well.

4. Halloween Murder Mystery at the Manor at Chilworth Manor Hotel on October 27

Daily Echo:
Actors entertain all guests over the evening from 6pm to 10pm.  Set in the 1940s, you are invited to a house party at the home of renowned reptile specialist Dr Black.

He intends to show off his latest acquisition, a poisonous Brazilian Tree Frog. The three-course dinner and murder mystery is priced at £49.95 per person


5. Dastardly Deeds and Direful Deaths at Holyrood Church, Southampton, pictured, on October 28, 10.30am - noon
Horrible diseases, death by drowning, victims crushed by carriages, the last man executed. These are just some of the terrible ends met by the townspeople of Southampton. Take the walk from 10.30am to noon. To find out more. Tickets £5.00 plus booking fee
 
6. Pumpkin Decorating Competition at BellaCrafts, Fair Oak, on  October 28 
Family fun  decorating pumpkins from 1.30pm - 2.30pm. You’ll be entered into a competition plus the pumpkins you decorate will be yours to take home. There will be an additional £1 charged pp payable on the day. Also ensure you have included your group size and time slot upon booking.

7. Halloween Chocolate Workshop, Chocolate By Miss Witt, Rear of at Homefield, Silver Street, Sway, New Forest, on October 26, from 2pm to 3pm, Suitable for children aged five to 11.

Children will learn how to make Halloween theme chocolate lollipops. Children will also get the chance to taste real milk chocolate, how to temper chocolate using a marble block just like the professionals, use cocoa butter transfer sheets to make their Halloween lollipop designs and decorate lollipops with halloween sprinkles. Allergens within the chocolate soya, milk powder and may contain traces of nuts. Tickets cost £13.50.

8. Halloween family fun day at Colden Common on October 28.

Daily Echo: Colden Common Community Centre, which is seeking to expand because of its popularity
Taking place between 2pm and 4pm it will be held at the village’s community centre. There will be a range of activities, including face painting, arts and crafts and a raffle.The event will also host a pumpkin carving competition.Those wanting to take part will need to bring along their pumpkin pre-carved for judging. Entry to the fun day costs £1 for children, adults go free. There will be individual charges for the activities.

9. Pumpkin Party at The Brooks Shopping Centre all day October 27. 

There’ll be a pumpkin carving workshop, trick or treat trail, spooky photo booth and face painting.

10. Boo at the Zoo. Marwell Zoo, until October 28.
