WHAT an amazing weekend with Music in the City! Our 10th year and the best ever!

We were blessed with sunshine all the way which was fabulous – particularly for our outdoor venues.

Our city was alive with the sound of music pouring out from 21 venues, the streets were filled with our intrepid audience wearing their MitC stickers rushing from venue to venue

Guildhall Square was packed – we've never had such a huge crowd there and Dancing Man became an outdoor venue for the first time!

From historic buildings to modern restaurants, coffee shops, clubs and bars, Southampton opened its doors to residents and visitors alike, welcoming all with great sounds and brilliant entertainment.

This year we had two main stages: Westquay which started last year and we were thrilled when they wanted to return this year, and Oxford Street. The atmosphere in both venues was terrific, there was dancing, singing and imbibing!

The biggest credit goes to our marvellously talented musicians who donated their time to entertaining us – you were all truly magnificent, we cannot thank you enough! You coped so well with parking problems, quirky venues and the occasional dodgy sound, we love you all.

Credit also to our venue managers and stewards who made the day run as smoothly as possible coping with a few problems along the way.

I'd like to thank everyone who took the trouble to email and Facebook kind messages of support, along with those we couldn't do without, our sponsors without whom we couldn't have got started, they included The Daily Echo, Westquay, SCC, GO!Southampton, Balfour Beatty, NST City plus, The AND Guide.

You are all fabulous! Thank you.

After 10 years of organising Music in the City, it's time for me to step aside and hand over the 'notes' to James Baillie with my very best wishes

It's been an absolute blast! My thanks and love to all who have helped me along the way. See you in the audience September 28 next year.
