A PROLIFIC offender has for jailed for more than two years after he caught stealing three boxes of chocolates.

Elliot Felmingham was back in the dock for breaching a "generous" two-year suspended prison sentence for conspiring to sell class A drugs.

The 32-year-old, who has amassed more than 100 previous convictions, was seen on CCTV taking the boxes of chocolate, which were worth around £96, from the Co-op on Archers Road.

Nicola Talbot Hadley, prosecuting, said he was arrested shortly after the images were handed to police and during his interview he answered no comment.

The offence breached the previous order, which was handed to Felmingham for his part in a wider drug-conspiracy across county lines.

His role in the operation, called the Bells End Line, was deemed small in comparison to others and he was involved due to personal drug use.

The court heard that Felmingham had a "prolific history of offending and failing to abide court orders".

However in mitigation, Timothy Akers said Felmingham should be given another chance to work under the terms of the order.

He argued Felmingham, who has been training to become a barber in prison, had been involved in a difficult relationship.

"Felmingham would be woken during the night by the partner and given drugs to take," Mr Akers said.

"She has now the subject of a prison term and Felmingham will now continue with his life."

Felmingham, of Millbrook Road East, pleaded guilty to theft and breaching the suspended sentence.

He was jailed for two years and one month.
