EASTLEIGH colleagues are to get ‘Tickled Pink’ for breast cancer awareness month.

Colleagues from Asda, Eastleigh, will raise vital funds for charities Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Now as part of the retailer’s Tickled Pink campaign this month.

Fundraising activity will take place in-store and in the local area throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Emma Gittoes, Asda’s National Charities Manager, said: “As this year’s Tickled Pink campaign launches in Eastleigh, it is an ideal time to say a massive thank-you to all of our colleagues and customers who have wholeheartedly supported the campaign in previous years – and to call upon their support again this October.

“As we surpass the £60m mark in terms of funds raised for Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Now, it is possible to see the tangible difference made by money raised through the campaign.”

Asda has already raised £60m through the campaign over the past 22 years to support improved care, support and information for anyone affected by breast cancer to funding life-saving research to help stop women dying of the disease in the future.

A spokesperson for Asda Eastleigh added: “From a pink non-uniform day, cake sales to a tombola colleagues will be busy raising funds for the charities supported through Tickled Pink to ensure that care and advice is available for anyone facing a breast cancer diagnosis.

“At Asda Eastleigh, we will be proud to be pink – and we hope you can join us!”

Breast Cancer Care provides people who are currently facing or have faced breast cancer with specialist information and offers them a chance to speak to nurses and volunteers about the difficulties they may be facing.

Breast Cancer Now are the UK’s largest breast cancer charity and focus their research entirely on breast cancer.

They aim that by 2050, everyone who develops breast cancer will live.

Baroness Delyth Morgan, Chief Executive of Breast Cancer Now, said: “The Tickled Pink campaign has raised an incredible £60 million for Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Now over the last 22 years and we would like to thank Asda colleagues, customers and suppliers for their continued and dedicated support.”
