A SOUTHAMPTON man has launched a desperate appeal to find his ill wife's engagement ring which was stolen in a house burglary last month.

The man and his wife were at the hospital on September 26, as she was being treated for cancer.

Meanwhile, between 4.50pm and 5.05pm someone broke into their home on Rothschild Close and stole money, an iPad and sentimental jewellery. The most sentimental of all, his wife’s engagement ring.

The victim said: “My wife is in such bad health. She lost her wedding ring because she became so ill and lost so much weight that it came off of her finger and now this one has gone too. We’ve had that engagement ring for 50 years and we were going to give it to our daughter.

“I’m appealing for information to help get the ring back. Please, if you have this ring, or you know where it might be or who might have it, please let the police know. It was all we had left.”

Officers in Southampton’s Operation Hawk team have released an image of the ring and have described it as a gold 60s or 70s style ring in a tree-bark like design with three sapphires and two diamonds inset.
