POLICE today raided a Southampton home as part of a drugs bust - believed to be connected to a 'county lines' dealing scheme.

Officers say they executed a warrant at a home in Redbridge this morning (October 2) and arrested three people on suspicion of drug offences.

A 26-year-old man and a 21-year-old man, both from Camden, London have been arrested on suspicion of dealing Class A drugs.

A 24-year-old woman from Southampton was also arrested for the same offence.

All three remain in police custody at this time.

Police later tweeted that the raid, on a home in Colwell Close, was aimed at targeting a 'county lines' scheme.

Daily Echo:

The scheme involves a single telephone number, operated from outside the area, often in London, to which drug users place orders.

Often young children and vulnerable adults are exploited into delivering the drugs.

Hampshire Constabulary say the work is part of Fortress, the force's commitment to reduce drug related harm in the county.

Chief Inspector Phil Lamb said: “We hope that this reassures residents that we are committed to taking action against drug-related crime in our neighbourhoods.

“We do this with the support of the community and our partners, who all help to pass on information that allows us to build a picture of what is really going on.

“We know that drug-related crime has a serious impact on the everyday lives of people and we are working hard to make our communities safer.”

If you suspect that an address in your neighbourhood is being used for drug dealing then please call 101 or the anonymous Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.

All information could help police catch and convict those who deal drugs to our communities and even the smallest pieces of information can help develop a clearer intelligence picture.
