Part of the road was closed between Mannings Heath roundabout and Alderney roundabout.
The driver of the Nova was taken to Poole Hospital as a precaution.
The accident took place on the Bournemouth-bound side and the road was open by 8.55am.
PR executive James Tourgout, who was driving to work, said: “I didn’t see what happened but the accident involved a lorry and a car which appeared to be on its side.
"The road seems to be closed and you could see the queues building up almost immediately. I think it’ll take a while to get back to normal."
There are long delays around Wallisdown, Canford Heath and Ringwood Road due to vehicles diverting.
