PLANES soared and engines roared in front of amazed spectators at a model exhibition in aid of charity held at Chandler’s Ford.
Societies from many parts of the South provided a fascinating insight into the world of model making and many showed off their skills with radio-controlled planes, cars, boats and trains at Model World 98 held at Thornden School on August 30.
The event, organised by the Rotary Club of Itchen Valley was well-attended and was held to raise funds for Southampton-based charity Leukaemia Busters Millennium Appeal.
Displays, included model power boat racing, a battle staged by Southampton Wargames Association, science fiction models, and a helicopter model flying display.
The Titanic Society also provided an exhibit of models of the doomed liner.
