THE facade of a Hampshire charity will be covered with flowers as part of a fundraising drive. Breast Cancer Haven Wessex's flower wall will be officially launched by star of hit TV show Downton Abbey - Hugh Bonneville.

The wall of flowers will be created by Hampshire based florist Susie Babington, who says she will be taking her inspiration from "the warmth, comfort and safety that exudes from Breast Cancer Haven, Wessex."

Organisers said: "Susie has created a powerful and positive floral display inspired by garlands long-used in Indian culture to symbolise amongst other things ‘love and compassion’. Covering the front of the Titchfield centre, this large-scale display of locally sourced, in-season flowers, mirrors the Breast Cancer Haven brand’s colours. Susie is thrilled to be part of this project due to the personal experience she has had with breast cancer in her family.

Susie added: “Having been the primary carer to my mother during her battle with cancer, I was delighted to lend a hand to this project to raise awareness of the disease, which sadly affects so many of us today, either directly or indirectly, and of the Breast Cancer Haven which supports not only the patient but the family too – so important during difficult times.”

The event will mark the start of Breast Cancer Awareness month - which takes place in October every year.

The event is being sponsored by The Rare Brand Market. The company supports independent brands by holding markets throughout Hampshire - their Christmas market is in Winchester on November 14-15.
