POLICE and paramedics rushed to a city centre garage last night.
Officers were seen outside the Texaco garage in Queensway, Southampton, yesterday.
It is believed they attended after a man was 'attacked' in the area.
Witnesses said a man, believed to be in his 30s, suffered a 'nasty looking head injury'.
A spokesperson for South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) said: "We received an emergency 999 call from a member of the public at 19.22 last night reporting that a male had been assaulted on Queensway and sustained a serious head injury.
"We sent an ambulance to the scene and after initial treatment he was then taken to University Hospital Southampton."
Police have now confirmed a man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grevious bodily harm with intent.
