A KNIFE wielding robber faces more than five years behind bars after leaving his elderly victim with memories he "will never forget".

Scott Quinn's 62-year-old victim was left "shocked and shaken" after he was forced down an alleyway by two men late at night.

The victim was walking along Gordon Avenue, Portswood, at around 9pm on July 17 when the men threatened him with a knife.

He was forced to hand over £40 in cash before the men made their getaway.

Police staff investigator Claire Linton, from the Western Investigation Team, said: "The victim of this case was shocked and shaken by the events caused by Mr Quinn.

"Whilst going about his daily routine he has been placed in fear, which is something that he is never going to be able to forget."

Quinn, 43, was subsequently arrested in connection with the incident and charged with robbery, being in possession of a bladed article and driving without insurance.

When he appeared at Southampton Crown Court for his first hearing last week, Quinn pleaded guilty to all three charges.

PSI Linton added: "Officers worked through hours of CCTV footage as part of this investigation, and I would like to thank the public for their help in enabling us to identify Quinn following our CCTV enquiries.

"Without the help from the public, he may never have been identified and brought to justice."

The investigation into the second offender involved in this incident is ongoing.

Quinn, of no fixed abode, was jailed for five years and three months.
