ORGANISERS of Bestival say they are considering issues raised about excessive noise at this year's event.

It follows a Bestival Community Safety Advisory Group meeting on Tuesday, September 4. Purbeck District Council officials have been investigating a number of complaints about noise at the festival held at Lulworth Castle in August.

As previously reported, one beleaguered resident, Mary Warne, who lives five miles away in Bovington, said the noise was "monstrous." Describing the early hours of the Sunday morning, she said: "I could hear the boom boom boom from the Bestival at Lulworth through my open bedroom window in Bovington at 3.30am.

"That must mean that in the early hours the noise must been spreading over a five mile radius from the festival site." A noise management plan was in place for the organisers to follow, and Purbeck District Council raised the issue of the noise complaints with Bestival's organisers.

In response, a Bestival spokesman said: “Following 2018’s extremely successful event, we are in the very early stages of planning for Bestival 2019 and will be taking into consideration a small number of issues raised at the Bestival Community Safety Advisory Group meeting on Tuesday, September 4."
