A WOMAN has been arrested on suspicion of arson following a fire at a block of flats in Winchester.
Firefighters rushed to The Valley in Stanmore shortly before 7.30pm yesterday after reports of a fire at a three-storey building.
Hampshire Police have confirmed that a 53-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of arson.
A spokesman for the force has also added: "A woman in the flat was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation but has since been released.
"The flat was badly damaged and others in the block also had to be rehoused mainly due to water damage caused by putting out the blaze."
Crews from Winchester, Eastleigh and Redbridge fire stations were called to the scene and left at 9.30pm.
