EASTLEIGH’S first pride event is set to take place with the addition of a new act.

The event will take place on September 8 from 12pm until 5pm at Leigh Road Recreational Ground.

Tickets are free and no road closures will be in place.

A spokesperson from Eastleigh BID who are organising the event said: “It’s all starting to feel real now, Eastleigh having it’s very first Pride.

“All the hard work with planning this event from scratch and we hope everyone can be there to help us celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and prove to Eastleigh that we can all be who we are without being discriminative. We have 70 stalls, live entertainment, for all the family.

“Come and celebrate with us on 8 September 12-5pm. The party carries on at our 3 official after parties taking place at The Spitfire, The Chamberlayne Arms and The Station 7pm-late.”

A wide variety of acts will be entertaining the public throughout the day.

Southampton based band Pivotal has also been added to the line up.

Singer and pianist Henry Newbury, who also played at London Pride, and Southampton DJ Brad Chapman are among those who will perform.

Pivotal will be joined by drag Queen Misty Lee who performed in several Prides across the country.

Also taking the stage will be Southampton band We Know John and the Solent Gay Men’s Chorus, a charity with the aim of bringing gay and bisexual men together to sing, perform and socialise.

Finally the Oxfordshire Drag Collective will also be in attendance and presenter and vocalist Daniel Ferrett will host the event.

The Chamberlyne Arms, The Spitfire and The Station will all be carrying on the party into the evening.

Cabinet Lead for Social Policy Cllr Tina Campbell said: “We are delighted to support Pride in Eastleigh and this is a great example of a community led event that will provide enjoyment.”
