A MAN on remand at Winchester prison died while awaiting trial, an inquest heard.
Barry Park, 56, of no fixed abode, had been in custody at the prison, but after suffering health problems, he was transferred to hospital.
Winchester Coroner's Court heard that while at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital, scans revealed he had pancreatic cancer, which had spread to other organs.
Mr Park was transferred to The Countess Of Brecknock Hospice in Andover, where he died on April 26.
Senior coroner Grahame Short recorded a conclusion of death due to natural disease.
