THIS is what a new housing development in the Eastleigh borough could look like.

As previously reported, developer Foreman Homes unveiled plans for 200 new homes on grazing land off Providence Hill in Bursledon.

Now the firm has confirmed that the plans have been revised and the number of proposed homes has been brought down to 141.

The scheme is set to be discussed by town bosses next month and if approved, associated open spaces will also be created in the area along with infrastructure to provide adequate access from Providence Hill.

Steve Carrington, planning director at Foreman Homes, said: "Positive discussions with the council continue, we are seeking to deliver the best possible scheme for this site, and, in this instance, a reduction in housing numbers has made for a more generous and open layout, and we are keen to deliver it at the earliest possible opportunity."

Mr Carrington had previously said that plans are for a mixed development of one, two, three, four and five-bedroom homes.

The proposals also include the provision of a play area and recreational footpaths and hedgerow and tree planting. New vegetation could also be planted at the nearby Windmill Fields Woods, which is a Site of Nature Conservation Interest (SNCI), in a bid to encourage biodiversity.

The Bursledon, Hamble-le-Rice and Hound Local Area Committee is expected to discuss the plans on September 20.
