AS A new generation of scholars battle their nerves to anxiously open their A-level results, the Daily Echo takes a look back at the event 20 years years ago.
Dozens of Hampshire students tentatively set foot back on the grounds of their college or schools to find out if they had gained the grade they wanted in their A-level results.
After weeks of nail-biting, it was finally all over, the youngsters found out how they had performed in their exams.
Some of the students turned up with a mob of friends, willing to join together in with celebration or commiseration, but for others it was a solo task, opting to deal with their emotions in private.
Many danced with delight and jumped for joy as their success began to sink in.
