A HAMPSHIRE funeral directors received an unexpected thank you while out for coffee.

Staff from AH Freemantle Funeral Directors received a handwritten thank you note from young Evalyn Lamb when she spotted the pallbearers car parked up at a local shopping centre.

The note was placed on the windscreen by the 10-year old and her mother when pallbearer Graham Rice was out getting his morning coffee in Locks Heath.

Evalyn, said: “When I recognised the car I really wanted to thank them for the difficult job they do and also to say well done for carrying my grandad who was slightly chubby.”

The note read: “My mummy and I have noticed you every Thursday at Waitrose. Recently you participated in my friends funeral as well as my Grandpa’s (Charles Lamb). By the way well done for managing to carry my Grandpa as he was slightly chubby! The whole point of this letter is to tell you that you do a very tough job and you do it perfectly.”

Mr Rice said: “Reading the note brought a tear to my eye, it was lovely to be recognized for the work we do”

The team at AH Freemantle Funeral directors then invited Evalyn and her family over for tea and cake to thank her for the kind gesture.
