THEY left for a family trip to Spain. dreaming of a new garden where their two-year-old could get some much needed time for play and relaxation.

And now a Fair Oak family have seen their fantasy become a reality as a team of volunteers and a celebrity TV gardener stepped in to transform their garden.

Since 2016, Sebastian Burrell has been undergoing treatment at the Royal London Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital for a tumour behind his eye.

His parents Pippa, 31, and Dan, 32, had plans to create a lovely family garden when they first moved to their home in Wooderson Close five years ago.

But juggling work, family life and Sebastian’s treatments has meant that their garden has fallen from the top of the priority list.

Returning home from their trip, the blinded-folded parents were given a huge shock as they were greeted by ITV’s ‘Love Your Garden’ star David Domoney and a brand-spanking new garden.

Reflecting on the makeover, Pippa, a teacher at Shamblehurst Primary School, told the Daily Echo: “It’s an amazing makeover - we couldn’t believe it when we saw it.

“They have completed changed the garden. Before it felt claustrophobic but now it feels so big. We’re going to spend lots of time here.”

Pippa said Sebastian had already picked out his favourite bits from the new garden, as well as his new favourite herb from the growers - sage.

Dad Dan, who works as a property developer for Denfords, added: “It just has such an amazing feel to the place now. We’re so happy. Seb loves this place and we’re so please. What a surprise.”

Hilliers stepped in to make the Burrell’s dream after hearing about it from its charity of the year Wessex Cancer Trust.

Sebastian has been a regular user of the cancer trust and the staff love him so much they wanted to help out the family.

Sofie Bennett, head of development at the trust, said: “Seb is much loved and was an obvious choice when we heard about the makeover.”
