RESIDENTS are being asked to have their say on the way that the Winchester district develops through the council’s Local Plan.

A consultation has been launched over what the Local Plan should include, and will run until noon on September 21.

The Local Plan will help shape the future of the district up to 2036, by planning how to deliver housing, employment space, facilities and infrastructure as the area grows.

But the document also has to take into account protecting the aspects that which makes Winchester attractive to visitors.

The council is currently seeking views on the scope and content of the Local Plan from residents, businesses and anyone with an interest in planning matters.

Cllr Caroline Brook, portfolio holder for the built environment, said: “The Local Plan is a key document which ensures that the vision and aspirations of our district communities and the council are translated into future planning policy and there is a requirement to update this every five years. This cabinet listens hard to local people and makes balanced decisions based on the feedback. This is integral to shaping our communities and giving us a strong position in determining whether future planning applications should be granted approval.”
