Dear Sir/Madam

The recent run of fantastic weather has been welcomed by most and I have had the opportunity to host a number of foreign visitors looking at business opportunities in the UK.

Often we have been able to sit outside enjoying the benefits which the warm weather has provided.

Mostly the foreign visitors have been impressed with what they have seen and learnt about our country.

However one thing that has been really noticeable, as a consequence of the hot weather is the very poor image many of our citizens present to the world.

The amount of excess flesh, preponderance of tattoos and the fashion for ripped jeans/shorts was a real talking point amongst my visitors.

I guess not a lot is expected from a British male but when I was younger women were well presented and generally tried to dress up rather than down and when out and about.

There is a good deal of debate about funding of the NHS but, as one of my medically trained guests commented, it is evident that the effects of obesity will present significant challenges to UK health care in future years.

Perhaps not being too concerned about body image or public presentation is a modern trend in this country but this does not seem to be a shared value in a lot of other countries, many of them less economically blessed as the UK.

Such a shame as I am proud of my country and want to present it and its people to best advantage.

So bring on the colder weather where shape and form can be hidden by more clothing!!!

Yours faithfully,

Stuart Mckenzie
