VISITORS to Romsey would have been for a bit of a surprise.
The town centre was shut down yesterday evening as the bed race returned.
One of most popular events every summer, participants from pubs and groups in the town entered to wheel their way through the centre in record time.
Firefighters also sprayed participants as they rallied around the town's streets - as is tradition.
But there were was method in the madness.
Last night was the Romsey Bed Race - one of the biggest events as part of Romsey Carnival.
Starting from 7.15pm and beginning in Market Place, a number of pubs, clubs and businesses all took part in the annual event.
Coming through Market Place and The Hundred, the beds raced through the streets all in aid of the Romsey Co-Responders Appeal and The Prescription Art.
There was also a performance from Romsey Old Cadets Band.
