POLICE rushed to an incident at Hampshire rail station this morning.
Officers were called to Winchester rail station after reports of a concern for a man's welfare.
Police arrived on the scene at 10.27am and took the man to a 'place of safety'.
The incident caused widespread delays on the South Western Railway network and forced to operator to temporarily close the line between Eastleigh and Basingstoke.
Services were effected until 11am, however delays of up to 10 minutes occurred on many services afterwards.
a spokesperson from The British Transport police said: "Officers were called to Winchester railway station at approximately 10.27am today (06/07) after concerns for a man’s welfare.
"Officers attended the scene and a man was taken to a place of safety.”
