Pensioner targeted in attempted robbery outside Hampshire bank
A PENSIONER was the victim of an attempted robbery outside a Hampshire bank.
A woman in her 80s was outside Barclays Bank in New Milton when someone tried to steal her handbag.
A man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the robbery attempt, which occurred on Tuesday at around 4.30pm.
A police spokesman said: "A man approached a lady in her 80s and tried to steal her handbag.
A 27-year-old man from Romsey was arrested yesterday on suspicion of robbery. He remains in police custody at this time."
